S-2249E

S-2249 E is a two-part epoxy sealant and adhesive, curing at room temperature.  Its consistency is designed to allow it to be dispensed readily as a slump resistant bead.   The cured material has good heat and vibration resistance. S-2249 E may be used as a filter seam sealant to survive many pulses at 60° C.

In a field trial a “blind” filter (pores clogged to eliminate transmission) was exposed to 2.5 million air pulses at 90 psi, 60° C without detriment.   The pulse duration was 200 milliseconds at 2 second intervals.

INSTRUCTIONS
Ensure that the mesh is clean, dry and free from dust.  Mix S–2249 E in the ratio Part 1: Part 2 = 2:1 by weight or volume (the disparity in SG of the two components allows the cure ratio to fall within the ratio abuse range). Apply the bead of mixed adhesive to both sides of the mesh and insert into the filter.   Allow time for the adhesive to cure, this time may be shortened by heating to about 60o C.
