General Purpose Adhesives
S-2576E
DESCRIPTION S - 2576E is a two part, cold curing epoxy adhesive designed to be extruded from a twin cartridge. S - 2576 E is available in a range of colours and has very rapid cure.
APPLICATION S-2576E may be used to bond building materials, brick, concrete and clayware where particularly fast assembly is required.
S-2576E is also used as a screed on corroded steel and to seal steel compartments.
The adhesive has been tested to BSEN12004:2001 with simulated weathering and freeze/thaw cycling by CERAM building technology. There was no loss of adhesion throughout the tests.
INSTRUCTIONS Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use. Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from dust. Apply the mix to one surface, offer up the second surface as quickly as possible, align in the correct position and allow to cure
S-421M
DESCRIPTION S - 421 M is a solvent-borne, rubber/resin adhesive. It has high initial grab and dries to a high bond strength. S - 421 M has good gap filling properties.
APPLICATIONS S - 421 M may be used to fix battens and wall cladding directly to walls; to fix aluminium panels on to portable buildings and caravans; to fix rigid PVC skirting to walls and to fix facing brick slips to sample panels.
INSTRUCTIONS Reference should be made to the Material Safety Data Sheet. The substrates should be dry and free from dust, grease and any loose material. Paint should be removed from the bonding area. Concrete and plaster should be allowed to dry. Porous or friable material should be primed with a dilute solution of a contact adhesive and allowed to dry. Apply S - 421 M to one surface, either as a bead extruded from the cartridge or by spreading a quantity, scooped from the can, with a serrated trowel. Press the substrates firmly together without delay. A firm bond is achieved in about an hour
S-2209E
DESCRIPTION
- S - 2209 E is two part, cold curing epoxy adhesive.
- S - 2209 E is viscous but not thixotropic.
- S - 2209 E has a medium work-life.
APPLICATIONS S - 2209 E is a general purpose adhesive capable of bonding a wide range of metals and plastics.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use. Ensure the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from grease and dust. Mix equal quantities, by weight or volume, of the two parts and stir thoroughly until an even colour is obtained. Apply to one surface and offer up the second surface, clamp or jig together under light pressure. Leave undisturbed to cure.
S-409M
DESCRIPTION S - 409 M is a Grey coloured mastic of buttery consistency functioning both as an adhesive and as a sealing compound. S - 409 M dries by solvent release to a tough, rubbery set and adheres well to a variety of surfaces.
APPLICATIONS S - 409 M can be used to join and seal a wide range of materials including aluminium, steel, glass, masonary, wallboarding, timber slate and insulation panels (except foam polystyrene). There are many uses for S – 409 M in the construction and allied industries including the bonding of skirting boards, plasterboard, wooden battens and many types of wall panelling. S – 409 M has good gap filling properties and is of non-sag consistency. The service temperature of S – 409 M covers the range -20 C. to 90 C., with resistance to higher temperatures intermittently. S – 409 M has good resistance to water, chemicals, oil, UV light and general weathering. INSTRUCTIONS Reference should be made to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use. S – 409 M is used by extruding a bead of the adhesive from the cartridge supplied with a standard hand or powered gun. All joint surfaces must be dry and free from grease, dust and loose particles. Metal surfaces can be cleaned with White Spirit of Structural Adhesives cleaner/thinner S – 434 M. Masonry and concrete should be allowed to mature and dry out and loose dust brushed from the surface.
S – 409 M should be applied to one surface only in the form of a 6mm bead around the periphery of the panel being bonded. For heavier materials and/or large panels additional beads of mastic willbe required.
For small areas S – 409 M may be applied in blobs (about walnut size) at 300mm centres.
Bonds should be made within 30 minutes of application and heavy substrates may need to be supported in position for a few hours whilst the mastic builds up strength. An alternative procedure is to make the bond as above, hinge the substrates apart for 5 – 10 minutes (leaving mastic on both surfaces) and then rebond.
After 30 minutes the beads become surface dry and an adequate cure is reached within 24 hours.
Tools and spillage (not hands) can be cleaned with S – 4089M
S-2087E
DESCRIPTION S – 2087 E is a two-part, cold curing adhesive. It is highly thixotropic so that it mixes readily but then “stands up” to give good gap-fill.
APPLICATION S – 2087 E is designed to bond clayware, e.g. road gullies and special bricks. It will also bond other materials, e.g. steel and concrete.
INSTRUCTIONS Reference should be made to the Material Safety Data Sheet. The surfaces to be bonded should be free from dust and grease and, preferably, dry. S – 2087 E is mixed in the ratio of Part 1 : Part 2 = 1:1, very thoroughly until an even colour is obtained in all the mix.
The mixed adhesive is trowelled onto one surface, the other surface is offered up and the two pieces kept in position until cure is substantially complete; generally overnight.
