Engineering and Assembly Adhesives

S-194E

DESCRIPTION
S - 194E is a single part, heat cured, epoxy adhesives. It contains an in-built rubber-toughening component to enhance peel strength and impact resistance. They display high shear strength in many hostile environments.

APPLICATIONS

The adhesives bond most metals and plastics that are not affected by the curing temperature and so find applications in the engineering industry.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Reference should be made to the Material Safety Data Sheet. The adhesive may be applied by spreading with a trowel, roller or extrusion gun. The adhesive does NOT have any green strength or grab, therefore the articles or assemblies to be bonded must be supported in jigs or clamps until full cure has been reached.

They will bond oil-contaminated surfaces; however, lightly abraded and clean surfaces will achieve the highest results. S-462M or S-4005M can be used to degrease the substrate surface before bonding.

S-833C

DESCRIPTION
S-833C is a single component, extremely low viscosity, rapid curing ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive.

TYPICAL USES
S-833C is particularly suitable for wicking into close fitting parts.  It exhibits excellent humidity resistance and maintains its strength at low temperatures.

BENEFITS

•    Will bond most industrial surfaces.
•    Very low viscosity.
•    Leaves no residue when fully cured.

METHODS OF APPLICATION
•    Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean and free from grease dirt and any other contamination.
•    To ensure best cleaning results use S-
•    Unscrew cap and cut off the top of the nozzles using a sharp knife or similar implement taking care to point the blade away from the body at all times.
•    Affix the appropriate dosing tip if required.
•    Squeeze the bottle gently to apply a small amount of adhesive to one surface.  One drop of adhesive is sufficient to bond one square inch of substrate.
•    Bring the two surfaces together immediately and apply firm pressure.
•    Handling strength will be achieved within seconds and will vary dependent on substrate type.
•    Full cure of the adhesive will be reached in approximately 6 hours.

S-608A / S-88A

DESCRIPTION
Adhesive S – 608 A / Activator S – 88 A is a low odour, non-flammable Reactive Acrylic Adhesive.  It may be used premixed through a static mixer or two-way (one component on each surface).  It may also be used bead on bead.
S – 608 A / S – 88 A has a mix ratio of 1:1 and cures rapidly.
Adhesive S – 608 A is red and Activator S – 88 A is green to give a distinctive colour change to grey as an indicator of good mixing.

APPLICATIONS
S – 608 A/S – 88 A is a versatile, rapid curing adhesive suitable for bonding dissimilar surfaces in the metal and plastic fabrication industries.

INSTRUCTIONS
Reference should be made to the Material Safety Data Sheets and to the bulletin 'Notes on using twin cartridges'. Ensure the surfaces to be bonded are clean and dry and free from dust. The adhesive can cope with lightly oiled surfaces but it performs better on degreased surfaces.
Apply (1) a thin bead of adhesive premixed through a static mixer to one surface or (2) a thin coat of one component to one surface and the second to the other or (3) a bead either on or beside the second bead by dispensing from a twin cartridge without using a static mixer. Here one must ensure that in mating the surfaces, adequate mixing has occurred.
Bring the two surfaces together within the work-life of the premixed adhesive and do not disturb the bond during the early minutes of cure. Pressure during cure is helpful but not essential. If clamps are used, their pressure should not be varied once applied.

NOTE

The high alkyl methacrylates upon which the adhesive is based are subject to air inhibition in their cure. This results in surface tack on exposed surfaces, which is eventually lost. Airless in a bond the cure proceeds normally

S-826C

DESCRIPTION
S-826C is a clear modified tough Cyanoacrylate with higher peel and shock resistance to other grades.

APPLICATION

Varied, bonding rubbers, metals, but also acting as a strain relief in tough demanding environments.
Can be used with activator S-897C to cure through gaps and large deposits or drop such as bridging and tacking/strain relief of components.

S-605A / S-01A

Description:
The series derives from S – 605A and consists of viscosity and cure speed variants on the one basic formulation.  As such, they are all low odour, high flash point formulations.  Their impact resistance and bond strength is, however, improved.

These new adhesives are designed for use with the low odour pre-mix activators, ACTIVATORS 12 and 13, to yield high flash point mixes.  They can, however, be used with conventional activators, e.g. activators 01 – 09, when appropriate.

Uses:
The adhesives are suitable for the structural bonding of steel, aluminium, painted or primed metal and some rigid plastics in the construction of vehicle bodies and similar assemblies.
