Adhesives for Brick Slip Bonding

S-2690E

DESCRIPTION
S-2690E is a two-part cold curing epoxy compound, which is mixed with sand to form a pointing mortar for brick slip panels.

INSTRUCTIONS
References should be made to Material Safety Data Sheet.  The surfaces should be dust free but need not be dry.  Any metal reinforcement should be free of loose corrosion.

Panels/units need to be placed horizontally.  Mix sufficient material to point the whole surface.  Mix the resin and hardener in the correct ratio.  The compound is then mixed with dry sand at a ratio 25 parts sand to 1 part compound by weight (the sand can be coloured with pigment powder to achieve various coloured mortars).  The pointing mortar is tipped onto the surface then brushed into the joints with a stiff brush.  After 30 minutes curing the mortar is then smoothed using an appropriate pointing tool and the loose material brushed away from the surface.

S-2678E

DESCRIPTION
S-2678E is a two part cold curing epoxy adhesive used to bond brick slips and ceramic tiles onto concrete, cementitious board and various other substrates to manufacture brick slip panels. It is ideal for brushing or roller coating applications.  The benefits of this product are two-fold: adhesion and as a waterproof membrane to stop the ingress of water.  A special feature is that it will bond and cure on damp concrete.

INSTRUCTIONS
References should be made to Material Safety Data Sheet.  The surfaces should be dust free but need not be dry.  Any metal reinforcement should be free of loose corrosion.
Panels/units need to be placed horizontally.  Mix sufficient material to coat the whole surface and poured onto the surface then spread with a serrated trowel or stiff brush to form a layer approximately 0.5 to 1 mm thick.  Allow to cure for 5 minutes before placing the tiles/brick slips onto the surface of the adhesive, press down gently to ensure maximum contact of the adhesive with the underside of the tile/brick slip.  After 10 to 15 minutes the tiles/ brick slips can be pointed by brushing in epoxy pointing mortar S-2688E.

S-732U is very  easy to apply.  It has an excellent adhesion on many surfaces.  It also stays permanently elastic after curing.

  • Does not smell.
  • Can be painted “ Wet on wet.
  • Excellent weather resistance.
  • Resistance to many chemicals
  • Does not stain on porous surfaces such as natural stone blue stone, marble, granite.
  • May be applied on wet substrates.
  • Sealing and bonding in the building and metal industry.
  • Structural bonding in vibrating constructions.  Fixes almost any material to almost any substrates.

S-2576E

DESCRIPTION
S - 2576E is a two part, cold curing epoxy adhesive designed to be extruded from a twin cartridge.  S - 2576 E is available in a range of colours and has very rapid cure.

APPLICATION
S-2576E may be used to bond building materials, brick, concrete and clayware where particularly fast assembly is required.

S-2576E is also used as a screed on corroded steel and to seal steel compartments.

The adhesive has been tested to BSEN12004:2001 with simulated weathering and freeze/thaw cycling by CERAM building technology.  There was no loss of adhesion throughout the tests.

INSTRUCTIONS

Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use.  Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from dust.  Apply the mix to one surface, offer up the second surface as quickly as possible, align in the correct position and allow to cure

S-2665E

S-2665E is a two-part, cold curing epoxy adhesive.  It is designed to bond brick slips to various substrates such as concrete, ply wood, exposed aggregate, stainless steel and aluminium.  It is designed for dispensing from a 400ml 1:1 ratio twin cartridge by an air–powered gun through a 10mm static mixer with 10 elements and a exit hole diameter of 5mm.  This gives an 8mm-diameter bead.  It is a rapid cure adhesive that cures in 4 hours.

INSTRUCTIONS

Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use. Fit the twin cartridge into the dispensing gun, fit a static mixer into the retaining nut, and screw that on the cartridge.  Output can be increased by cutting one or more “shoulders” off the nozzle and by increasing the air pressure. Apply two beads of adhesive about 2-3cms apart horizontally along the surface to be covered. These beads will be approximately 1cms from the top and the bottom of the brick slips when applied. Carry these beads along the surface to the edge. Apply the Brick slips along the line of the beads and press firmly into the adhesive, use spacers of required width to provide an appropriate spacing of the slips. Carry on in the manner to the end of the row. Apply two more beads to form the basis for the next row and carry on until the surface is covered. It wets out well on damp and dry bricks. If the mix is left in the static mixer for longer than its work- life, it will set solid so requiring a new static mixer, one should discharge the whole contents of the cartridge quickly.  By this means a mixer could be re-used on a second cartridge NOTE:  This adhesive has a four-hour cure time and this should be taken into account when applying the brick slips.  Do not apply more rows than can be held in place by the uncured adhesive.
